All care support workers receive accredited training to ensure they meet our and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
Staff are taught about relevant legislation that applies to moving and handling, aswell as, how to perform correct manoeuvres and assess the level of risk.
Our face-to-face training course covers both the practical and theory-based elements of First Aid and Basic Life Support. Our staff will learn how to perform chest compression and rescue breathing (CPR), how to operate an automated external defibrillator safely and how to place an unconscious breathing victim in the recovery position.

We provide career progression opportunities, such as Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ diplomas and the care certificate. We believe this is essential for encouraging staff development and retention. By offering these qualifications, we aim to empower our care support workers to advance their careers, acquire specialised knowledge, and gain recognition for their skills in the care and social sector.
The care certificate is agreed set of 15 standards which ensure all support workers have the same fundamental skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high-quality care and support. At Silverwood Care we encourage all staff new to care to complete the care certificate alongside their mandatory training.
Moving and Handling plays a crucial role in supporting people and includes activities like hoisting and lifting, vacuuming, transporting laundry, or handling boxes. This e-learning provides care support workers with an understanding of the key concepts of manual handling, allowing staff to Identify various items of equipment and what they are used for, understanding support workers role and the roles of others in assisting and moving and raising awareness of the relevant legislation.
First aid skills e-learning allows support workers to understand their role, know the contents of a first aid kit, be able to call emergency services and understand the essentials of providing first aid in the event of an emergency. This course will allow our care support workers to identify and respond to an emergency quickly keeping service user's safe.
Maintaining infection prevention and control is essential for the welfare of individuals requiring care and support, and its significance is heightened especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Our e-learning will ensure you have the knowledge required to keep you and your service users safe from harm.

Safe Administration of Medication training provides essential knowledge and skills to ensure accurate and secure medication practices, minimising risks and upholding patient well-being. Our medication training compromises of two parts. Part A provides knowledge and understanding on how to support and assist those who take their medication and Part B which provides knowledge around medication administration. This e-learning allows those tasked with the role of being in contact with food to understand what is required of them to carry out their role safely.
All employees within the health and social care sector have a responsibility to keep the people they support safe from harm or abuse. As a registered CQC provider we are required to provide training on autism awareness. This e-learning ensures care support workers learn how to interact and appropriately support those with autism and people who have a learning disability.
